Woof…my name is Alvin and, as you can tell by the pictures, I am a very handsome boy. I am 10 years old, and have been well cared for during my life. I am an owner surrender, only because my dad is really sick and could no longer care for me. I am housebroken, fully vetted, get along great with dogs, cats, kids, in other words, the perfect dog. I am quiet, sleep at night without making a sound. I go outside just to potty then want to come right back inside. I am excellent on a leash. My health is good, however, I do have allergies. I am on a special diet (duck and potato) and I do require special attention to maintain my heath, such as continuing care for my ears. I need to go to a home where I will stay on my restricted diet (no table scraps) and constant monitoring of my ears. If you are looking for a senior boy who just wants to hang out with you in the house, then I am your guy! Please request me on your application. Thank you! Alvin
After a visit with the vet, it has been determined that Alvin has low thyroid and is currently on 0.8 mg thyroxin both morning and night. This will continue through the rest of his life. Thyroid meds usually cost about $13.00 per month. The dark circles around Alvin’s eyes are due to allergies. This should clear up with a consistent proper diet, as stated above. Alvin also has a yeast infection on his chin. This is currently being treated and should be well on the way to being cleared up in the next week or so. He is currently getting a medicated bath twice a week for the next several weeks, then will drop back to a once a week bath. Hopefully, the constant baths will taper off, but he will need to be bathed at least once monthly to keep his skin and coat in peak condition.
In the 10 days that I have had Alvin, I have seen a remarkable change in his personality, in other words, he is feeling better about himself and becoming more comfortable in the change of his surroundings. He is becoming more playful and really has a good personality. Alvin is a very good dog and keeps us laughing.
