I believe Christy is one of the easiest foster we have ever had. Here is her story.
For almost 4 years Christy had a family with a child to love her. When the child got older the girl became severely allergic to Christy so the family had to surrender her.
Christy is bewildered and mildly traumatize but beginning to adjust to her new foster home. Christy is very obedient and smart. She is snoozing beside me as I write this. She is very laid back and likes to follow me every where I go but is not pushy about wanting attention. As long as she can see me she just follows me and lays down while I work.
She sits when you tell her to. Sits for her dog treats ( along with 4 others) and takes her treats gently with out grabbing. We have been crating her at night and crating when we leave (as we do with all our fosters). She goes into her crate when we tell her to and does not stir all night. She should be fine left out all day and left out at night but since we have 4 other dogs it is easier if one is crated.
She gets along OK with other dogs and is actually afraid of out little dog that is an alpha dog. She would do well in a home where there was a dominant dog or multiple dogs. She would also be OK where she was the only dog. She gets along OK with cats also.
She loves long walks and walks well on leash. She is housebroken and does not disturb any thing in the house.
It will probably take her a short while to adjust to a new forever home but with patience she should do great.
She is a little intimidated by men but warms up to them as she get to know them. Dog treats will help with this. We thought she was a picky eater but think she had just been spoiled with people food. After the first few days she began eating fine. She is actually food oriented and likes to sit and watch you eat (along with the 4 others) but never begs or tries to get your food.
We think she also is supposed to know play dead and knows lie down. She loves to ride in the car and jumps in on her own. She likes to chase tennis balls.
She will bark and growl along with the other dogs when they bark at a car driving up or the door bell rings but is OK when they calm down. When her foster dad comes zipping down the stairs she does a friendly little play growl sound but it is not aggressive - more of a greeting.
At first she was intimidated by her foster dad but has quickly learned he is the one that gives more food treats and back scratches. Loud noises and quick movement also intimidated her but as she adjust to her foster home she does not seem to mind them so much. She does NOT seem to be storm sensitive.
She is about 4 years old and 65 pounds and a medium gold color with a beautiful feathery coat.
