My name is Jax and I am a very loving 5-6 year old lighter-colored golden boy. I am on the larger side at 75lbs, and I have a big heart as well. My days are spent lying by a member of my foster family. I do get along very well with my 3 other dog brothers and sisters, even the active lab puppy. We play some, and I even enjoy retrieving a ball every now and then. I am good with cats and love young children. Thought when I came to TVGRR I had been chained outside all my life and had no training, I am a smart boy and very quick to learn. I am learning to walk nicely on a leash, I know the command sit, come, and am learning the command for down. I have great house manners, and am housebroken. Unfortunately, I was quite ill with intestinal worms, a tick borne disease and heart worm when I first came to TVGRR. I was very inactive at first, but with each day I get more strength and energy. When I am done with all of my treatment the vet says I will be in excellent health. Each day I take a 1 mile walk with my foster Mom and I really love it when she brings out the leash. When I first came to TVGRR I also had trouble with separation anxiety. With medication and behavior modification, I am now fine when I am left alone in the house with my dog brothers and sister. I will probably need to use medication all of my life to help me combat this problem, and will need someone who understands how to work with me so that I will not develop the problem again. I responded very quickly to treatment, much more quickly than the vet thought I would. That is a good sign, and I should do very well in my new home. I am a great walking companion, and my foster Mom says that I am well worth the very slight effort it takes to keep me from getting nervous when they leave home.†
